To wrap up the posting day, I would like to mention a few things about headaches. I am asked this question often.
My most common and quick reply is that aromatherapy can be very effective or complitely the opposite . It can be effective since essential oils especially peppermint and lavender and rosemary are very strong analgesics and anti-inflamatory and hence will have a relaxing and tension relieving effect. So for most headaches, including some migranes peppermint and lavender, applied neat abot one drop each to the temples can be of great help.
For sinus headaches turn to eucalyptus, niaouli and pepermint and rosemary.
For migranes you can take two routes cold compress or warm compress. At the first sign of the migrane apply a cold compress to the forehead and change it when it becomes warm. Make compress with just 2 drops of lavender and pepperint in the medium size bowl. However it is possible that this remedy is not for you, for some migraines do not tolerate any aromas at all.
Also to keep in mind that some migranes are caused by vascular constriction of blood etering the head, therefore you need oils that open blood vessels and the strongest one is marjoram. Apply it to the back of the neck, behind ears, and can make warm compress and apply to the base of the neck and replace when cooled off.
For all migranes, lie down in the dark room and try to relax.
