Immune system and essential oils
Our immune system is extremely complex and fascinating mechanism. Once a threatening agent enters the body a chain of events is set in motion: from specialized blood cells to lymphatic system, spleen, thymus and tissue fluids. This is your immune response. And as we all very much aware it is the white blood cells that are most actively involved in this response. They are found in large numbers in lymph nodes, tissue fluids…
Essential oils can strengthen and support the immune response by either directly opposing the threatening micro-organisms or by increasing the activity of the organs and cells to fight them.
A number of the essential oils that are particularly good at that are:
Rosemary and geranium are great for supporting the adrenals and are stimulating to the lymphatic system. Black pepper and lavender are very stimulating to the spleen – strengthening.
Lavender, Bergamot and Ti tree are a great trio at stimulating the production of the whit blood cells.
Using these oils on daily bases as body oil, bath oil or diffusion will help you build a high level of resistance to illness, getting sick less and recovering faster.
Where the immune system is weakened and there is recurrent or prolonged infections, treatments with variety of essential oils should be continued for a month so that the immune system can get repaired and strengthened to resist future attacks.
A healthy diet that is rich in protein and raw foods, seeds and grains with little unsaturated vegetable oil is essential along with the aromatherapy treatment.
